HEART RIDE 2011. The Hamptons. www.AmericanHeartRide.org See website for times, ages and fees. Heart Ride is a unique cycling experience and fundraising program to support the American Heart Association. The AHA will train you to participate in a 27-mile, 59-mile or 100-mile bike through the Hamptons.

Join us for our annual, old-fashioned Spring Fair. Carnival rides and games, petting zoo, Estate Sale, vendor fair, spring plants, farmers market, delicious grilled food, bake sale and more. Additional cost for food and carnival rides.

LONG ISLAND FLEECE AND FIBER FAIR.  Hallockville Museum Farm, 6038 Sound Ave., Riverhead. www.hallockville.com hallockv@optonline.net  10 am – 5 pm. Ages 6 – adult. Fee: $5/person. Also on May 20. Featuring the many facets of harvesting, processing and working with animal fiber from sheep, llamas, alpacas and rabbits. Demonstrations & workshops will take place throughout the day. Vendors will sell yarn and fiber-related products.

Try fun scientific experiments that explore the super small. NanoDays is a nationwide educational project focused on nano-scale science and engineering sponsored by the NISE Network (Nanoscale Informal Science Education). Check out this fascinating new science from buckyballs to waterproof sand.

Discover the amazing lives and natural history of insects, spiders and other creepy crawly creatures. Learn about bug anatomy and fascinating insects that help make up three-quarters of all animals on Earth. Create fun insect crafts, participate in activity challenges and even enjoy a tasty treat made with edible insects.  Make sure you stop by the Theater for a presentation by Arrow Exterminating at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. This event is made possible by a generous grant from Arrow Exterminating, Inc.

The biology of cool scaly creatures – snakes, lizards, and turtles - and common misconceptions about them – will be explored in a fascinating live demonstration conducted by Wildlife Rescue of the Hamptons.

The fair offers exciting “close to home” entertainment with more than 100 spectacular rides, games and attractions.  The fair will feature spectacular fireworks shows on Sun., May 27, Sat. Keep your body fit and active by jumping rope with us! Jump roping is good for the brain and the heart and it can build strength in your body. The Get Up and Go! series is sponsored by a grant from the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York.
